Aunt Bill’s Famous Candy Recipe

I finally got my hands on this recipe from my mom last Christmas and ended up making three whole batches! I’ve loved this treat since childhood—no one can ever resist it. For years, I thought Aunt Bill was one of our distant relatives, so I was surprised to learn that this isn’t a family recipe at all—it’s actually a well-known classic, haha!
Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups salted dry-roasted peanuts
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions:
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it, then set aside.
2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar, heavy cream, and corn syrup, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally.
3. Once boiling, lower the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture slightly thickens.
4. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda.
5. Add the peanuts and pecans, mixing until they’re well-coated with the caramel mixture.
6. Pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly. Let it cool at room temperature for 1–2 hours, or until it hardens completely.
7. Once set, break the candy into pieces and store them in an airtight container. Enjoy!
