Description:

These Baked Ham and Cheese Croissants are a perfect combination of flaky, buttery croissants filled with savory ham and melted cheese. Ideal for breakfast, brunch, or a delicious snack, these golden, cheesy croissants will have everyone coming back for more.

Ingredients (Makes 8 Croissants):

For the Croissants:

  • Croissant dough: 1 can (8-count, or use homemade dough)
  • Deli ham: 8 slices (preferably thinly sliced)
  • Swiss cheese: 8 slices (or your choice of cheese such as cheddar or Gruyère)
  • Butter: 2 tbsp, melted
  • Dijon mustard: 1 tbsp (optional)
  • Honey: 1 tbsp (optional)

For the Topping (optional):

  • Parmesan cheese: 2 tbsp, grated
  • Fresh parsley: 1 tbsp, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Croissants

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. If using store-bought croissant dough, unroll it and separate the triangles. Lay the dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 2: Assemble the Croissants

  1. On each croissant triangle, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard (if using).
  2. Place one slice of ham and one slice of cheese at the wide end of each croissant.
  3. Roll the croissants tightly, starting from the wider edge and curving into a crescent shape.

Step 3: Brush and Bake

  1. Brush the tops of the croissants with melted butter.
  2. (Optional) Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the croissants for extra flavor.
  3. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted inside.

Step 4: Garnish and Serve

  1. Remove the croissants from the oven and let them cool slightly.
  2. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve warm.

Tips for Success:

  • Make It Your Own: Experiment with different cheeses like cheddar, mozzarella, or provolone, or add a few slices of tomato for an extra burst of flavor.
  • Crispier Croissants: For extra crispiness, place the croissants on a baking rack rather than directly on a baking sheet.
  • Make-Ahead: These croissants can be assembled in advance and refrigerated. Simply bake when you’re ready to serve!

Recommendations:

  • Serving Suggestions: Serve these croissants with a side of mixed greens, a light salad, or some fruit for a complete meal.
  • Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes to restore crispiness.
