Glazed Apple Slab Pie
Glazed Apple Slab Pie
Ingredients:
1 package refrigerated pie crusts (contains 2 crusts)
6 cups peeled, thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are ideal)
⅔ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional but recommended)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (to thicken the filling)
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tablespoons milk (for the glaze)
½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for the glaze)
—
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare the crust: Roll out one of the pie crusts and press it into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
3. Make the filling: In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, and cinnamon (if using). Mix well, then spread the apple mixture evenly over the bottom crust.
4. Add the top crust: Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the apples. Seal the edges by pressing them together with a fork, then cut a few small slits on top to let steam escape while baking.
5. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
6. Prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract (if using) until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm pie.
7. Serve: Allow the pie to cool slightly, then cut into squares and serve.

Tip: This glazed apple slab pie is a simple alternative to a traditional round pie—perfect for potlucks, parties, or any family gathering.
